SEO for a private chef is local. You are not trying to rank across the country. You are trying to be one of the names that appears when someone in your city looks for a chef. Here is what moves that, in the order we would do it.

Start with the search you want to win

Write down the phrases a guest would type: "private chef in" your city, "personal chef" plus your area, "private dinner party chef", "weekly meal prep chef". Search each one in a private window and note who appears. Those are the pages you need to be as clear as.

Name the service and the city in your titles

The page title is the strongest signal you control. Each page should have its own, naming the service and the place, such as "Private Dinner Party Chef in Miami". The main heading on the page should say the same thing in natural words.

Give each service its own page

One page that lists everything competes for nothing in particular. A page each for dinner parties, weekly meals and events gives Google a clear answer for each search, and gives a guest exactly what they were looking for.

Complete your Google Business Profile

For local searches Google shows a map with three businesses before any website. Claim your profile, choose the closest category, set your service area, add photos regularly and ask clients for reviews there.

Put real text on the page

Search engines read words. Menus as images or PDF files, and pages that are only photographs, give them very little. Write your menus, your service descriptions and your answers to common questions as text.

Be consistent everywhere

Use exactly the same business name, city and phone number on your site, your Google profile, Instagram and every directory. Mismatched details make search engines less sure who you are.

What about ChatGPT and other AI assistants?

More people now ask an assistant to recommend a chef. Nobody can control the answer, but assistants work from what is published: your site, your Google profile, your reviews and mentions on other sites. Clear, consistent facts and a few mentions on local lists and partner sites give you the best chance of being named.

How long it takes

Changes to titles and your Google profile can show within weeks. Appearing reliably for competitive city searches usually takes several months of steady work. Anyone who promises a first-place position by a set date is guessing.
